The postgraduate study program “Advanced Physiotherapy” of the Department of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Thessaly has been designed in accordance with the international modern standards of postgraduate study programs, covering all the subjects of Physiotherapy (such as musculoskeletal, sports, cardiology, respiratory and neurological) offering up-to-date, scientifically documented knowledge at both a theoretical and practical level, emphasizing therapeutic exercise and innovative scientific methods of rehabilitation (such as motor control and motor learning, neurorehabilitation, cardiovascular adaptations to exercise, chronic pain , musculoskeletal dysfunctions , etc. ). The MSc offers the option of part-time study for those who are employed and find it difficult to meet the requirements of a full-time postgraduate study program, while classes are held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to facilitate all participants.
The MSc “Advanced Physiotherapy” is the first postgraduate program in Greece with the subject of Physiotherapy (former TEI of Central Greece), it already has a large number of graduates and is held in the city of Lamia, in the center of Greece (indicatively 1 hour and 45 minutes from Athens and 2 hours and 20 minutes from Thessaloniki by train) in modern facilities. The MSc “Advanced Physiotherapy” was re-established in 2020, operating through the Department of Physiotherapy of the University of Thessaly (Government Gazette 1946/Β/21-5-2020).
The laboratory research equipment available to the Physiotherapy Department is the largest in Greece and perhaps one of the largest in Europe, ensuring high-level education and research. In addition, the University of Thessaly, one of the best in Greece, has an international reputation and is an annual attraction for students from other countries of the European Union. Finally, the educational staff of the MSc is consisted of experienced and renowned faculty members of the Physiotherapy Department as well as many visiting teachers with high prestige and expertise in special subjects. The MSc “Advanced Physiotherapy” gives the possibility of a total exemption of tuition fees to a percentage of 30% of those admitted (par. 2 of article 35 of Law 4485/2017) as well as the possibility of the data collection of the research study of the students in other Universities abroad with which it cooperates by covering expenses through the Erasmus program.
