Among the immediate goals, since the beginning of the MSc ‘Advanced Physiotherapy”, was to improve the research activity of the department and the academic development of the educational staff and to be able to secure some additional funds to support the undergraduate study program in the Department of Physiotherapy. In the long term, the goals were to improve the interface between research and teaching, the transfer of know-how to the Department and the Faculty, and the interface with the labor market.

Object of the MSc program is the scientifically documented production and transmission of advanced knowledge, know-how, clinical tools, methodologies, techniques and research results in the scientific field of Physiotherapy with an emphasis on the prevention, improvement and restoration of pathological conditions, congenital and acquired, as well as traumatic injuries that cause disorders in the muscular, muscular, nervous, respiratory and cardiovascular systems.

The thematic units of the subject of the master’s program refer to prevention, improvement and rehabilitation, while they are distinguished in three individual general thematic areas of occurrence of disorders: in the musculoskeletal , nervous and cardio -respiratory systems.

The objectives of the program are:

  • The promotion of knowledge and the development of research in the fields related to the subject of the MSc scientific areas of physical therapy.
  • The creation of high-level physical therapists for the benefit of society and public health.
  • The slowing down of the outflow of Greek scientists abroad for postgraduate studies in physical therapy, for the benefit of society as a whole and the Greek economy.

The goal of MSc is the acquisition of specialized scientific knowledge, attitudes and skills so that graduates:

  • to acquire the ability to evaluate and synthesize the existing knowledge on the specialized subject of the MSc.
  • to develop the necessary specific skills for formulating research hypotheses, designing and conducting research, as well as evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting research results.
  • to acquire the necessary supplies and the special skills required, both for their professional, as well as for their academic and research careers in the competitive conditions that are taking shape in the modern European environment as well as worldwide.
  • to acquire high scientific training in order to provide high-level physical therapy services for the benefit of the Greek economy and public health.

The current MSc in “Advanced Physiotherapy” offers full and partial time studies. The duration of studies for the award of the M.D.E. is in the full-time study cycle it is three academic semesters and correspondingly in the part-time study cycle it is six academic semesters . In MSc graduates are admitted after selection.
